As noted above, Fr. Joseph Dinh was the third of the three SCJs ordained to the priesthood this summer. The ordination took place July 13 at Sacred Heart Monastery/School of Theology in Hales Corners, Wis. Bishop Joseph Perry, auxiliary bishop of Chicago, was the ordaining bishop and homilist. Fr. Joseph Dinh, 32, was born in Saigon, Vietnam, but has lived in the United States since 1987. He first began as a student with the Priests of the Sacred Heart in 1992. He did his undergraduate studies at Incarnate Word University in San Antonio and earned his master's of divinity degree from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. In December, he was ordained to the diaconate by Bishop Perry. Soon after his ordination, he began ministry at Our Lady of Guadalupe parish in Houston. He will continue there following his priestly ordination. A Mass of Thanksgiving was held at Our Lady of the Snows in Chicago, a parish where Fr. Joseph ministered at during his years at CTU, on July 14. Another Mass of Thanksgiving will be held in August at our Lady of Guadalupe. The Mass will incorporate Vietnamese, Spanish and English, reflecting Fr. Joseph's background and the culture of the people to whom he ministers. WANT TO SEE MORE?
