** Jesus, we live in challenging times. The world needs Religious brothers, priests and sisters to provide spiritual leadership. We do not have a lack of vocations but a shortage of people answering their vocation, We pray that more people will say yes to God's calling. Amen ***

Meet this Month's SCJ:

Originally from Fergus Falls, Minn., Fr. Nick Brown, SCJ, began his religious studies at the community's formation house in Redlands, Calif. In 1967, he professed his first vows at the age of 25, and in 1976, he was ordained to the priesthood at his hometown parish.

Since ordination, the Midwestern native has spent most of his time in Texas. He was associate pastor at St. Lawrence Parish in San Antonio, served as a chaplain at the state hospital in San Antonio and at the Fort Sam Houston Medical Center. He has also been involved with prison ministry and elderly outreach.

For the past ten years, he has ministered to San Antonio's homeless, doing what he calls, "night ministry." Residing at an urban parish, he goes out into the streets at night and talks with the homeless, helping where he can.
